This cat stalks me from the apartment building next door. Usually he stalks me from the windowsill, but today he’s being stealthy.

This little bird is outside our window every morning, tapping at it with its beak. After every few taps, it hops and flaps its wings, then lands back on the sill and taps again. Every morning.

I burned myself tonight on tea, on that fleshy bit between the thumb and forefinger. Hard to see in this picture, but in person it’s a pink stripe all the way to my wrist. And it hurts.
